FAILURE PRECEEDS SUCCESS

We are all thrilled when we get success. We feel delighted to learn and hear about many successful people around us, who has attained success in their lives. Does anyone like to hear about failure? Is there any attempt being made to find any method to avoid failure in life? Answer is ’no’. It is because failure and success are two sides of the same coin. We generally forget that behind every success story, there are hundreds of failure stories, there are stories of stumbling, falling and then bouncing back. The joy derived from success is the culmination of a long journey of making mistakes. If failure and mistakes did not exist, we would not have been able to use even half of the inventions that we have today. Albert Einstein once said, “A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.”

Everyone might have heard of Elon Musk and Tesla. He did not attain success overnight. His project was not successful in his first attempt. He had failed so many times that any normal man would have given up further attempt. But it is his years and years of failing and enduring and learning that has resulted in him sending a car into space.

“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.” – Paulo Coelho, a famous Brazilian lyricist and novelist.

From this we can understand that failure is not an enemy and definitely cannot be eliminated. But it can be used as step ladder, a lesson, a catapult to success. In fact, the biggest enemy is not failure, rather, it is the ‘fear of failure’. “There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.” – Paulo Coelho, a famous Brazilian lyricist and novelist.

The true meaning of FAIL is:

F = Face and Fight

A = Accept

I = Improve yourself

L = Learn from it.

Those who have succeeded knows this secret. They utilized this knowledge and learned from their sufferings and turmoil when they were defeated again and again. We have seen that the world run away from those who have failed. But the same people run forward to celebrate the success and may be even claim some credit for it.

Failure becomes the building block for us only if we accept it as an enriching experience from which we can learn and gain wisdom. One such story is that of Bill Gates where his breakdown led to a breakthrough and gave rise to the most successful Microsoft Corporation. Another similar story is that of Steve Jobs who, like Bill Gates, had also dropped out of college and then went ahead to become the co-founder of Apple Inc., only to be removed from the company! But he was so good at his job that they ultimately not only hired him back, but also made him the CEO.

Today everybody wishes the success without facing any failure. Nobody wants to face hardship. They only want fruits. Of course, failure is very disappointing, but only when we embrace failure, does success become inevitable. Albert Einstein once said, “In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity,”

So let not fear of failure or difficulty bother you. Always remember that: “Everything we want lies on the other side of fear.”
